Shen Quan (1682-1760), Qing dynasty painter, was particularly apt at flower and bird painting. In 1731, invited by the Japanese emperor, he took his students to Japan, where he lived and taught for three years. His work was much appreciated in Japan, and made a formidable impact on Japanese painting.
