Department
Established in 2013, our Design department has become an international benchmark. Today, it continues to grow, exploring new trends and constantly expanding its network of clients and partners.
With more than twenty catalogued sales per year, the department stands out for covering the history of design from the 1890s to the present day. Twice a year, Piasa delves into the most prominent design regions through exclusive sales featuring French, Italian, Scandinavian, Brazilian, and American design. In addition, Piasa organizes auctions from private collections and monographic sales highlighting specific designers or specialties such as ceramics.
Furthermore, Piasa has also showcased contemporary creations through its two annual sales dedicated to contemporary design.
As part of its international expansion, Piasa has been hosting two design auctions at the Royal Ice Rink in Brussels. These events attract collectors and design enthusiasts from around the world, enhancing the department's global reputation.
Our catalogs remain authoritative references and essential iconographic sources for collectors and professionals in the field.
Our team is available for free and confidential appraisals and estimates, either from photographs or at your home by appointment. We frequently visit major European capitals and can arrange meetings during these trips.
Since its inception in 2013, the design department has continually progressed, achieving €35 million in sales for 2023.
Among the most significant auctions of 2023 were a Chieftain chair by Finn Juhl, which sold for €312,000 (including fees) on March 8, 2023; a sideboard by Jean Prouvé, which sold for €208,000 (including fees) on October 4, 2023; and a table by George Nakashima, which sold for €188,500 (including fees) on November 8, 2023.
"All our sales are meticulously curated, providing an exceptional platform for rare and iconic pieces that reflect the evolution of design over the decades."
