Note: This is a modernist rereading of the well know Fontainebleau school portrait of Gabrielle d'Estrees and her sister, the Duchesse de Villars. The subject is here reduced to a snapshot image of the leisure society, itself concealed by the differenciated treatment of color in grids and large horizontal planes.
