Kept by Greek artist Takis's family, famed artist-sculptor (Panayotis Vassilakis), this watch accompanied throughout his career from the early 1980s to his passing in 2014 ; it was entrusted to PIASA by his heirs.
Takis was well known for his kinetic sculptures combining technological elements, magnets and lights. This watch is an Ebel best-seller from the early 1980s, in the era the company was directed by Pierre-Alain Blum.
This legendary figure in watchmaking had equipped his watch with the famous Zenith El Primero 400 caliber, whose reliability is legendary, with 36000 beats per hour.
Takis's art questioned traditional sculpture by making it dynamic, interactive, and even unpredictable.
His notable works include sculptures using magnetic force to suspend metallic objects, or to animate them.
Key figure from the post-war avant-garde in Europe, major exhibitions were held throughout the world including at the Tate Modern and the Centre Pompidou.
