For its next 'Modern and Contemporary Art' auction, Piasa will be presenting a Victor Brauner artwork from a private European collection in the 1930s, never before seen on the market, in a surrealist vein and estimated at €200-300,000.
There will also be a section devoted to Ivan Tovar, the post-surrealist artist from the Dominican Republic, for whom Piasa holds the record price in public auction. Discover significant pieces, including two sculptures never before seen on the public auction market.
Some of the highlights of this collection is a historic and previously unseen piece attributed to Jean-léon Gérôme entitled "Le mur des lamentations" ('The Wailing Wall'), which comes from a private European collection and is estimated at €40-60,000.
For this auction, Piasa is also presenting a significant number of works by major abstract artists of the second half of the 20th century, including Martin Barré (€60-90,000), Jean Degottex (€30-40,000) and François Rouan (€40-60,000), painters of space, emptiness and spatio-temporality, from two private French collections.
Not forgetting a very fine painting by Kim Tschang-yeul, estimated at 70-100,000 euros, and finally a chapter of eclectic works by Takis, an artist dear to Piasa, from very different periods.
